Our special volunteers were presented their awards for 2007 at our annual Recognition Event on Thursday, March 27, 2008.
The 2007 Volunteer Awardees are:
Pink Ribbon Award
The Pink Ribbon awards honor corporate or community supporters of the Affiliate who display extraordinary commitment to the organization’s mission, either through significant contributions during the current year or consistent support over a number of years.

The Promise of One Award
These awards are given at the local level, but applied through Komen Headquarters. The recognition gift is a sterling silver logo pin. The award is given to two Komen advocates each year in recognition of an exceptional contribution.

Ellen Barnett Award
This award was established in memory of Ellen Barnett who was committed to helping survivors deal with the challenges of breast cancer. Ms. Barnett believed that breast cancer survivors should publicly celebrate their survival and was instrumental in initiating the special recognition of survivors at all Race for the Cure® events.
Founders Award
The Founders Award honors a new volunteer who has performed a high level of volunteer service during the current year and displays the potential to assume a leadership role in the organization in the future.
The Maryland Affiliate Award
This award is given to a volunteer who exemplifies the courage, strength and determination of Suzy Komen and represents the highest honor the Affiliate bestows upon a volunteer.
