Among other things, a project coordinator will disseminate breast health educational materials in Russian, schedule mammography appointments, arrange transportation and escort the woman to her mammogram.

Wellness for Women Reaches Out on the Mid-Shore, Shore Health System
Funds will support an outreach worker whose primary role is to enhance community outreach and education passing the message of early detection as well as where to get free screening.

Bridge to Breast Health, Sinai Hospital
Sinai hospital will train volunteers to visit non-critical care unit patients and educate them on the importance of mammography.

The Bicultural Patient Advocacy and Breast Cancer Services Project IV, Howard County HD
The Howard County Health Department will offer breast cancer screening services, education, outreach, and support to Hispanic, Korean and other ethnic minorities in Howard County by scheduling mammography, translating, educating and following up with patients.

"You Ought to be in Pictures: The Community Mammography Project", University of Maryland
This project will address issues that are specific to the African American women on the Eastern Shore providing outreach to this minority population through a poster campaign, as well as physician/provider education on breast health guidelines.

CARES for Women Breast Cancer Project, Chase Brexton Health Systems, Inc.
This project will continue to target outreach and education to the lesbian and African -American population in Baltimore City by providing direct access to referrals and follow-up for screenings though prevention case management.

Bridging the Gap Within Our Community, Shore Regional Breast Center
This project will fund two outreach workers to go into the community and meet women where they congregate. The outreach workers will go to hair salons, churches and bingo halls. They will give educational presentations as well as do one on one education. The outreach worker will also escort a woman to her mammography if she is fearful.

Breast Health for Life, Open Gates, Inc.
The project will reach out to 150 underserved and uninsured women living in the Washington village/Pigtown neighborhood of West Baltimore to provide breast health/breast cancer screening and education services.

A conference to raise awareness of the importance of regular breast cancer screenings among minority women and their healthcare providers

Development of a High Risk/Genetic Counseling Service for Women at risk for Breast Cancer, Peninsula Regional Medical Center
The project assess the feasibility of establishing a Risk assessment/genetics counseling service on the Eastern Shore of MD.

Hereditary Breast Cancer Risk Assessment: Overcoming a Barrier to Access, GBMC
This application seeks funds to subsidize genetic counseling charges, thereby eliminating a barrier to receiving genetic counseling.

Targeted Outreach and Case Management to Korean, Latino, and African Women in Baltimore County, Baltimore County Health Department
This project will fund a part time Korean and Hispanic outreach worker in Baltimore County who will recruit eligible women to the BCCP program, interpret, translate, and accompany women to appointments as necessary.

"Tackling the Taboos", Baltimore Medical System
This grant will address the emotional, cultural, and psychological barriers to breast health in attempt to increase access to services in Baltimore City with focus on the Deaf and Hispanic communities.

Educational Breast Health Program II, North Arundel Hospital
The goal of this continued grant funding is to provide education in church settings for the African-American and Korean population by providing seminars and individualized teaching of BSE.

Increasing Physician Participation and Patient Accrual to NCI Sponsored Breast Cancer Clinical Trials, Shore Health Systems

"Shining Stars: Breaking Down Barriers to Hispanic and African American Women participation in Breast Cancer Clinical Trials", St. Agnes Healthcare, Inc.
This grant will expand and enhance the current CRAFT grant to educate African-American and Hispanic women about the importance of preventative breast health and the vital need for participation in clinical trials, specifically the STAR trial.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Washington County Hospital Collaborative "Make A Difference" Project, Washington County Hospital
This grant focuses on hard to reach women living in rural communities of Washington County as well as minority women who live in urban Hagerstown; these women will receive breast cancer awareness information and education, free clinical exams, immediate transportation to a free mammogram if indicated and follow-up case management and treatment as necessary.
