Komen Maryland is pleased to announce its request for proposals for the 2009-2010 grant cycle. Grants will be made to support efforts to reduce breast cancer disparities across Maryland. Last year, Komen Maryland awarded over $2 million to breast cancer programs across the state. In the next fiscal year, Komen Maryland hopes to fund programs in counties where programs are not currently based.
Komen Maryland has identified the following three populations as funding priorities, based on a community needs assessment:
- Un- and underinsured women
- Foreign born women
- Breast cancer survivors who are under 40
Grant funding go towards collaborative and innovative projects in the areas of breast health and/or breast cancer education, screening, treatment, direct services, and survivor needs.
Download the complete Request For Proposal (RFP) with eligibility criteria and online submission instructions.
Applications must be completed and submitted online by Monday, November 3, 2008 by 5pm.
Applictions must be submitted to proprosalCentral (https://proposalcentral.altum.com/)

Community Profile
Komen Maryland, like all Affiliates, determines where to fund grants based on their community profile. The profile indicates where underserved populations and gaps in programs for breast health exist. We have modified the Community Profile to include a survivors needs assessment. Survivors across the state were asked to share their needs and we are excited to fund programs that address these needs in combination with the needs of those who are newly diagnosed.
Our Statewide Community Profile identifies unmet needs and underserved populations in breast health education, screening, diagnosis and treatment, and support services by county. We are interested in supporting grants that respond to a combination of these needs (screening, diagnosis and treatment as well as supportive services).
