Race Registration Material Distribution Distribute race materials, including Save the Date materials, to retail outlets, gyms, etcetera, in your area. Volunteer teams are needed to help us promote the race in each of the following counties: Baltimore, Harford, Cecil, Howard, Anne Arundel, Frederick and Baltimore City. Activity requires lifting, walking, and use of vehicle. Kick-off meeting at Komen Maryland on Wednesday, September 2, 6:30-8pm to discuss and pick up marketing materials to distribute. Distribute all Race for the Cure marketing materials by September 16th.

These volunteers will work with Aegon to distribute food to race participants on race day. Provide entertainment at various venues throughout the race village and on-course. Needed are bands, clowns, drum groups, marching bands, etc.
Volunteer Race for the CureŽ Photographers are needed to record this momentous event. Professional or experienced amateur photographers are welcome. This is a large event, and as such, requires patience and organization. A fair amount of walking may be required in order to capture the many candid photos expected. Those chosen will be one of a team of photographers. Photos will be the property of the photographer, but a release allowing Komen Maryland full and unrestricted use of the photos will be required. Assist with coffee station set up and maintenance on race day. Activity includes registering participants on Race Day . Involves lifting, standing and setting up tables. Requires some money handling experience. Assist those race registrants who need to pick up their race bib and race packet on race morning. Activity involves lifting, standing and setting up tables.
LARGE VOLUNTEER NEED - Stationed at recycling containers to assure that materials are placed in appropriate containers. Assist with taking collected materials to appropriate larger containers. Activity includes course marshall activities, moving cones, announcing time splits. Activity involves lifting, standing, and setting up tables. Volunteers will stand along roadways holding signs directing traffic to available parking lots. Note: Volunteers will not be standing in roads; must have cell phone. Assist with entertainment on race stages and along event route. Activity involves lifting, standing and assisting entertainers as needed. Responsible for attending the run-through on Saturday, October 17th, communicating with the activity chair regarding volunteer needs, obtaining volunteer shirts for your volunteers and organizing and managing the volunteers for your activity on that day. Activity involves directing people in the Race Village to the I Am The Cure tent for educational information. LARGE VOLUNTEER NEED - Direct attendees entering lots to available parking spaces, filling parking lots in a systematic process. Lots include Timonium Fairgrounds Park and Ride, Sam?s Club/Lowe?s Parking lot (Deereco Road), Lakefront Business Park (corner of Beaver Dam and McCormick Road) and lots surrounding the race course. Volunteers will work at various locations on Race Day and provide information and directions to attendees. (We'll give you all the answers! VOLUNTEERS WILL NEED TO RECEIVE SOME TRAINING PRIOR TO RACE DAY). Support the Ford National Sponsor on race day Support New Balance - National Sponsor on race day Assist with displaying quilts on race morning and selling raffle tickets to win quilts. Activity involves working at the Kids for the Cure tent helping with KFTC activities. Activities can involve periods of sitting or standing while working with children, forming lines, organizing activities, or helping other volunteers. LARGE VOLUNTEER NEED - Support Mott's Applesauce - National Sponsor LARGE VOLUNTEER NEED - Direct race participants to available shuttles buses at the following locations: Timonium Fairgrounds Park and Ride (Padonia and Deerco Roads), Lakefront Business Park (corner of Beaver Dam and McCormick Rds), Northpark Business Park (Shawan and York Roads.) Volunteers will also be stationed at the Cockeysville Post Office (drop off and return trip location) to assist participants returning to all shuttle pick up stops. Activity requires standing and sitting.
Assist with Survivor Activities in the the Survivor Tent and with Parade of Pink throughout race morning. Activity involved roving the team meeting area to see that teams are greeted and any concerns are addressed. Assist with handing out pledge prizes to participants who turn in pledges and help manage line. Work in teams of two to count pledge money
Support the Komen Cafe on Race Day (Banana Republic Volunteers ONLY)
Distribute t-shirts on race day Support the Subway sponsor on race day Support from the Geek Squad to define Race Course Parameters Assist with selling Race for the Cure Merchandise on Race Day Support General Mills on Race Day Cheer and encourage race participants along the race course route. Activity involves assisting race management team with the start line and finish lines.
Assist recycling efforts after race day events. Requires lifting and carrying of recycling containers. LARGE VOLUNTEER NEED - Work with sound engineering company to break down sound system in race village, start and finish lines Support Fuze with breakdown at end of race. Volunteers will consist of cheerleader and cheerleader groups and will be positioned on the race course to encourage runners/walkers with Cure chants
Rovers will walk the race village and provide education and answer questions relating to positive breast health.
