Entertainers/Performers

Provide entertainment at various venues throughout the race village and on-course. Needed are bands, clowns, drum groups, marching bands, etc.


Race Registration Material Distribution

Distribute Race for the Cure materials, including Save the Date cards, to retail outlets, gyms, etc., in your area. Volunteer teams are needed and encouraged to help us promote the Race in each of the following counties: Baltimore, Harford, Cecil, Howard, Anne Arundel, Frederick and Baltimore City. Activity requires lifting, walking, and use of vehicle.

Race Site Set-Up

Lifting, standing and setting up tables; preparing Race Village on Saturday afternoon prior to Sunday event. Also need 15 people 4:30-6pm only to set up recycle positions


Volunteer Captains

Responsible for attending the run-through on Saturday, October 22nd, communicating with the activity chair regarding volunteer needs, obtaining volunteer shirts for your volunteers and organizing and managing the volunteers for your activity on that day.


Volunteer Tent Check-in

Activity will be checking in volunteers as they arrive, giving out shirts and directing them to their work locations.


*Ford Tent

Volunteers with assist Ford with distribution of marketed giveaways.


*Kids for a Cure

Assist with activities in tent which includes face painting and other children related activities.


Entertainment

Assist with entertainment on race stages and along event route. Activity involves lifting, standing and assisting entertainers as needed. Monitor race village activities and entertainment on race route.


Food Distribution (Work with Transamerica employees)

These volunteers will work with Transamerica to distribute food to race participants on race day.


I Am The Cure - Cure Leaders

A Cure Leader group comprised of 12-20 people will be positioned at four (4) different locations along the Race route. Each Cure Leader group will learn the I Am The Cure 'chants' in advance and cheer them throughout the event. This is a great opportunity for energetic groups, such as Girl Scout troops, cheer leading squads and sorority groups. A responsible adult is necessary for groups with participants under age 18.


I am the Cure Roving Volunteers

A Rover volunteer will report to the I Am The Cure Tent first thing on Race morning to receive their assignment, get their t-shirts and IATC supplies. Rover teams comprised of two to three people will walk throughout the race village and provide educational material and answer questions relating to positive breast health. A Rover from each team will return to the I Am The Cure tent throughout the day to replenish their supply bag.


I Am The Cure Tent

Volunteers will stand in the forefront of the tent, greet Race participants, run I Am The Cure game wheel, provide educational material and answer questions relating to positive breast health; One volunteer will serve as a Rover captain, check in Rover volunteers, give directions, answer questions and refill Rover bags throughout the event. The remaining volunteers will open boxes and support the tent volunteers and the Rover captain.


Information Tents

Volunteers will work at various locations on Race Day and provide information and directions to attendees. (We'll give you all the answers! VOLUNTEERS WILL NEED TO RECEIVE SOME TRAINING PRIOR TO RACE DAY).


New Balance Tent

Support New Balance - National Sponsor on race day.


Parking

LARGE VOLUNTEER NEED - Direct attendees entering lots to available parking spaces, filling parking lots in a systematic process. Lots include Timonium Fairgrounds Park and Ride, Sam's Club/Lowes Parking lot (Deereco Road), Lakefront Business Park (corner of Beaver Dam and McCormick Road) and lots surrounding the race course. Must be at least 16-years-old.


Pledge Tent

Assist with handing out pledge prizes to participants who turn in pledges and help manage traffic to tent. Some will work in teams of 2 to count pledge money.


Race Day Registration/Bib Packet/T-Shirt Tent

Race Day volunteers will be assigned to various duties in the Registration/Bib packet pickup/T-shirt pick up Tent this year. Duties can include registering participants, locating pre-registered participants bibs alphabetically, facilitating bib & t-shirt pickup, greeters to move same day registrants or pre-registered participants to the correct area to register or pickup, volunteers to assist at the forms table, and with line and crowd control. Our goal is to get everyone through the lines as smoothly and quickly as possible.


Shuttle Bus Volunteers

Direct race participants to available shuttles buses at the following locations: Timonium Fairgrounds Park and Ride (Padonia and Deerco Roads), Lakefront Business Park (corner of Beaver Dam and McCormick Rds), Northpark Business Park (Shawan and York Roads), and Sam's Club/Lowe's parking lot (corner of Padonia and Beaver Dam Road). Volunteers will also be stationed at the Cockeysville Post Office (drop off and return trip location) to assist participants returning to all shuttle pick up stops. Activity requires standing and sitting. Remote shuttle bus volunteers will remind bus riders of the name of their bus stop and that all return buses will go to all three lots.


Survivor Tent

Assist with Survivor Activities in the the Survivor Tent and with Parade of Pink throughout race morning.


Coffee Stand(s)

Volunteers will be responsible for prepping cups, making sure condiments are stocked for participants, running coffee to and from different Race locations, assisting in serving coffee, etc.


Yoplait National Sponsor

Volunteers will distribute Yoplait coupon pamphlets around the Race village/site.


Quilt Raffle Tent

Volunteers will assist Quilt Tent with various tasks including: promoting the Quilt Tent to Race participants and assisting in the collection/handling of quilt pledges.


Quilt Sandwich Board Walker

Walkers will walk around the Race village wearing a sandwich board, promoting the quilts raffle and directing people to the quilts tents.


Bank of America

2 volunteers will be responsible for handing out Bank of America and Susan G. Komen for the Cure branded material to Race day participants.


Caltrate Booth

Volunteers will be responsible for set-up, breakdown, and support of the Caltrate booth on Race day. Caltrate is a National Presenting Sponsor for Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure series.


Clown Entertainers

Clown volunteers will assist in several Race day activities from Entertainment along the Race route and helping in the Kids for the Cure tent in the Race village.


Zeta Tau Alpha Tent (Zeta Tau Alpha Only)

Zeta volunteers will staff the Zeta tent, which will be located near the Survivor Tent. These volunteers will distribute hats to the survivors, distribute mammogram reminder cards/bookmarks to the Race participants, and manage the back signs for this specific area.


Parade of Pink & Survivor Ushering (Zeta Tau Alpha Only)

Zeta Volunteers will help coordinate Parade of Pink walk and picture. Zeta Volunteers will then go from the Parade of Pink over to two areas: 1) 1-mile finish curve (25 volunteers) and 2) 5k finish curve at the corner of Schilling Circle leading to the Finish Line (75 volunteers). These volunteers will be responsible for ushering the survivors to line the curb so that their bibs can be read aloud while crossing the Finish Line.


Traffic

Volunteers will direct motorists to parking lots by holding signs at various locations. Note: Volunteers will not be standing in roads; must have cell phone.


Subway Volunteers

Two (2) volunteers will be assisting Subway's booth with coupon distribution and a raffle registration for Race participants.


Recycling

Volunteers will be assigned to 6 push cart teams to move recyclables and trash from the Race Village and other areas back to the trucks in the staging/recycling area.


Start/Finish Line Helpers

Activity involves assisting Race management team with the start and finish lines.


Post Race Restoration

Support with breakdown at end of race.


Race Route Recycling

Volunteers will help with general police of the Race Village and Race Route. Volunteer position includes walking the Race Route in two person teams with trash bags picking up trash and recyclables.


Stage Hands - Break Down

Volunteers will help break down set-up and stage in Race Village and start and finish lines. This position will be great for volunteers who want to participant in the Race for the Cure. REQUIRES heavy lifting and moving.
